Prologue: Act II

For a Tomorrow Without Tears

Shadow Over Mondstadt
Thanks to your efforts, Mondstadt's elemental flow has returned to normal. It's time to report back to Jean.
Listen to Jean's conversation with the strange person
Paimon:
Isn't that Jean?
Paimon:
Seems she's talking to someone...
Paimon:
Let's let her finish, then go say hi?
Anastasia:
...which is what has brought us to this point in the first place.
Anastasia:
If you are unable to promptly deal with the Stormterror threat, then leave the defense of Mondstadt to the Fatui.
Anastasia:
We can put an end to Mondstadt's dragon issues. All we need to do is bring that monster to the—
Jean:
"Monster"?
Anastasia:
Yes. What's your point?
Jean:
Ah...
Jean:
I'd expect a more professional attitude from your diplomats.
Jean:
Yet here you are saying you want to "put an end" to one of The Four Winds of Mondstadt?
Jean:
I won't have any of this nonsense in front of the Knights of Favonius.
Anastasia:
Heh... Hehehe... It's not as crazy as you make it sound.
Anastasia:
Fine. That's enough negotiation for today.
Anastasia:
At this stage it's simply... an amicable exchange of constructive opinions, no?
Anastasia:
I'll be sure to make... thorough notes...
Jean:
Oh, Traveler, you're back.
Jean:
Thanks for your help. The elemental flow is finally stable.
Jean:
The aftermath of Stormterror's last attack is finally settled for the moment.
Jean:
However, the pressure from the delegation has become too big to be ignored...
Paimon:
Delegation?
Paimon:
From Liyue Harbor or Inazuma City?
Jean:
Snezhnaya. They choose to follow the God of Cryo.
Jean:
Their envoys go by a particular name: The Fatui. Heard of them?
Paimon:
Oh, them. They are super famous.
Paimon:
Wait, infamous is more the word...
Jean:
I don't think killing Stormterror is the right course of action.
Jean:
The Cryo God's Fatui have always coveted the Anemo God's power.
Jean:
I don't believe they have Mondstadt's best interests at heart.
Traveler:
Speaking of power...
Jean:
What is it, Traveler?
Traveler:
There's something I need to show the Knights of Favonius.
Jean:
Oh? Let us head back to headquarters then.
Jean:
We shouldn't discuss important matters... out in the open.
Return to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters with Jean
Jean:
Mondstadt and Snezhnaya are considered the same in status.
Jean:
Mondstadt is independent, and does not belong to any other nation.
Jean:
In fact, despite being referred to as a city, Mondstadt is a nation.
Jean:
Though, Snezhnaya's Fatui are known to be the most aggressive diplomats in Teyvat...
Paimon:
Makes sense, given the tone of that woman just now — so rude!
Talk to Jean
Jean:
It's a crystal embedded with some kind of power... Lisa, are you able to analyze it?
Lisa:
Let me take a look...
Lisa:
Hmm... I can see impurities in the crystal, but upon further inspection...
Lisa:
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a proper analysis at the moment. Give me some time. I'll take a look through the library's restricted section.
Jean:
Right. I'll leave the research to you then, Lisa.
Lisa:
Understood. I'll notify you all if I make any progress.
Lisa:
Though I wouldn't go getting your hopes up. They are incredibly ancient texts, not to mentio— Ouch!
Lisa:
Gosh, that hurt!
Lisa:
The impurities in the crystal... It hurts when I get close...
Lisa:
I see... It appears to react to Visions.
Lisa:
The impurities and the elemental energy we embody repel each other.
Lisa:
It's strange, though. Traveler has elemental abilities as well, but doesn't seem to be affected in the same way.
Traveler:
...
Lisa:
Anyway, the crystal would be better left in the hands of my cutie. It will just be a pain if left with us — both literally and metaphorically.
Jean:
...Fascinating.
Jean:
Do you know anything about what makes you special?
Jean:
I do not know what to make of it either.
Jean:
Well, then, Traveler... The Knights of Favonius have another favor to ask of you.
Jean:
Please accept the title of Honorary Knight... and the gratitude of the Acting Grand Master.
Paimon:
Honorary Knight... of Favonius!?
Jean:
We ask for your continued assistance in finding some answers.
Jean:
Stormterror's rage... and strange crystals... I know Mondstadt's peace hangs in the balance.
Jean:
May the wind open your eyes to the truth.
Jean:
We'll meet back here if you find anything.

Unexpected Encounter
Returning to Mondstadt, you encountered a clash between Jean and the Fatui. Afterward, you showed Jean the dragon tear that you found in the forest, and at her request, once again joined the investigation into Stormterror Dvalin.
Talk to Paimon
Paimon:
There's something you didn't tell them.
Paimon:
The dragon and the crystal weren't the only things we saw.
Paimon:
So you do remember him, that green guy.
Paimon:
He looked just like that guy down there!
Paimon:
See? See?
Paimon:
Wait... Hold on a minute... That...
Paimon:
That's the same guy!
Talk to Paimon
Paimon:
That green guy disappeared!
Paimon:
Use Elemental Sight to track him down.

That Green Fellow
As you were heading out to investigate, you happened upon the mysterious guy that you saw talking to the dragon.
Listen to the Bard's performance
movie
Through the poet's song, you come to learn the story of the "soaring dragon"...
Talk to the mysterious bard
Green Fellow:
Wait, you guys are...
Green Fellow:
Oh, that's right! You're the ones that scared Dvalin away.
Paimon:
Dvalin? Who's that?
Paimon:
Huh? ...Oh, right. Most people seem to call him "Stormterror."
Paimon:
Why do you call him that... are you two meant to be close or something?
Green Fellow:
Oh, so close...
Paimon:
Hey, Traveler. Paimon thinks this guy has a screw loose...
Green Fellow:
Good day, outlander. Seems we meet again.
Venti:
I'm Venti the bard.
Venti:
Three-time winner of the "Most Popular Bard of Mondstadt," to be precise.
Venti:
So, what do you need from me?
Paimon:
Given you recognize us, Paimon doesn't believe we need to explain any further.
Paimon:
Of course it's about Stormterror.
Venti:
Storm...?
Paimon:
Hey! Cut it with the amnesia act!
Paimon:
Traveler, show it to him.
You show the crystal to Venti...
Venti:
Oh! Isn't this—
Paimon:
What!? The crystal has been purified!? When?
Venti:
Dvalin, he...
Venti:
The anguish he feels... has brought him to tears...
Paimon:
Tears...?
Venti hands you another Teardrop Crystal, and you purify it for all to see...
Paimon:
Ehhhh!?
Venti:
You... really do have some wonderful abilities...
Venti:
Someone like you is going to end up getting written into a bard's poem.
Venti:
Oh, a hero so bright, should he stand in the light. Though stand in the shade, and you'll be met by a blade...
Venti:
Alas... I've really not the time to compose a melody for you at this moment.
Venti:
Anyway, even if Dvalin is not taken down, his life will still wither away in the breeze...
Venti:
He'll burn himself out in the flames of anger...
Venti:
Thank you for that, and you for purifying the Teardrop Crystal.
Venti:
But I have my own plans for what is to follow.
Paimon:
Oh? And what plan would that be?
Venti:
Seeing this tear has brought to mind a friend so dear.
Paimon:
Friend?
Venti:
Heh-heh, one must be going.
Paimon:
Hey! Where're you running off to!?
Venti:
To the "Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero." Bye-bye~
Paimon:
Huh... Traveler, what do you make of that?
Traveler:
This "weirdo" as you put it — we need to keep an eye on him...
Paimon:
As far as he's concerned, you're a weirdo too ya know...
Traveler:
You know...
Paimon:
Know what?
Traveler:
His voice seems familiar...
Paimon:
Familiar? I don't know... You're alone on that one...
Paimon:
But did he just say "Symbol of Mondstadt's Heroes"? What could that be?
Paimon:
Oh, Paimon knows! It's that huge tree.
Paimon:
You know, the gigantic one! You can't miss it, surely you still remember!

Let the Wind Lead
The mysterious fellow claimed to be a bard named Venti, but left on his own accord before you could get him to explain his relationship with the dragon. You follow him to the giant tree at Windrise.
Talk to Venti
Venti:
Oh? What are you doing here?
Venti:
Though I was just wondering if you would happen to follow me...
Traveler:
I want to know more about the Anemo God.
Venti:
You speak of the God of Anemo, Barbatos? He already disappeared from Mondstadt a long time ago.
Venti:
Liyue and Inazuma's respective gods of Geo and Electro are still present, but Mondstadt has seen many a moon since they last saw their own god.
Venti:
Why do you wish to know about the God of Anemo? Does it have something to do with Dvalin?
Paimon:
Oh... ahhh... it's because gods...
Traveler:
Yes, someone told me about Dvalin's past.
Venti:
Just how is it that everyone sees Stormterror? I'm quite curious.
Venti:
That said, there's no need to rush...
Venti:
I have not been back in a while, it seems there are a few who are unhappy with my arrival.
Defeat the creature
Paimon:
The wind... I can't... open my eyes...
Paimon:
What is a creature like that doing out here in such a calm place?
Paimon:
You think it was going after that green guy?
Paimon:
Traveler... His relationship with the wind seems even deeper than yours...
Talk to Venti
Venti:
Seems the dragon wasn't the only thing affected by this change in the wind...
Venti:
Now then, you were saying someone had told you about the dragon?
You tell Venti what Lisa explained to you...
Venti:
Is that so? Quite the scholar I must say, that Lisa.
Venti:
She's not wrong. The conflict has reached this point, only because both sides have resorted to the use of force.
Venti:
His hate, however, did not arise from the people not making tribute to The Four Winds.
Venti:
Nor was it born from his own nature, but instead came about as a product of his degradation.
Paimon:
Degra... dation?
Venti:
The black blood flowing through his heart has been torturing him for years.
Venti:
That's what has allowed him to be led astray by the lies of the Abyss Mage.
Venti:
They are from the Abyss Order, an organization comprised of non-human beings. They despise mankind.
Venti:
I don't know where they come from. All I know is that they hold deep hatred towards the human world.
Venti:
Many hilichurls out in the wild take orders from them and act as their weapons.
Venti:
Before arriving here, I too was like Dvalin, cursed and left to waste.
Venti:
But now, before us stands the Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero, the place from which Mondstadt rose.
Venti:
The wind amongst the branches is good, I love the way it smells...
Venti:
Being here with you beneath this great tree feels like when the tear was purified earlier. Like the poison is leaving my body...
Venti:
Mmmmmmm... Feels much better.
Paimon:
So... how exactly did you get poisoned?
Venti:
Ahh... that would be because I tried to communicate with Dvalin earlier, but was... interrupted...
Venti:
As a result, not only did I not manage to help Dvalin break his curse, but instead, was also infected myself!
Venti:
Yes, it was you!
Venti:
So, to make up for it, Traveler, you're coming with me to the Cathedral!
Paimon:
The Mondstadt Cathedral? To do what exactly?
Venti:
To claim a certain "Holy Lyre der Himmel."

Venti's Plan
Stopped at last, Venti explained that he had tried and failed to cleanse Dvalin's curse during their previous meeting. Now, he has been forced to rely on the Holy Lyre der Himmel's power if he is to restore Dvalin.
Go to the Cathedral with Venti
Paimon:
So this... "Holy Lyre der Himmel" is...
Venti:
One of the most treasured items in Mondstadt. It's the lyre that Barbatos used to play.
Venti:
With it, perhaps I can help Dvalin draw his gentle nature back out of this nightmare he's going through.
Paimon:
Will it really stop Stormterror from causing more damage?
Venti:
Of course. I'm the best bard in the world.
Venti:
There's not a single song I do not know, no matter if it's from the past, present, or future.
Venti:
Look me in the eyes. Do you not find me trustworthy?
Paimon:
So how can we get the Holy Lyre?
Venti:
It's said that it's enshrined deep within the Cathedral, somewhere safe.
Venti:
I'll go take a look around. You can come if you want.
See how Venti borrows the Holy Lyre
Venti:
Let me handle this...
Venti:
Hello there, Sister.
Gotelinde:
May the Anemo God bless you, young bard. How can I help you?
Venti:
Actually, I know a secret that can save Mondstadt from its current predicament.
Gotelinde:
Oh, what a blessing from the God of Anemo!
Gotelinde:
But you should report that to the Knights of Favonius. Why have you come to me?
Venti:
Hahaha, because you, dear sister, are able to help!
Venti:
I'd like to borrow... the Holy Lyre. With it, I'll be able to help Stormterror—
Gotelinde:
Please see yourselves out.
Venti:
What?
Gotelinde:
It's a vicious dragon indeed, but once the Acting Grand Master makes up her mind, nothing can stand in the Knights' way.
Venti:
That's simply not acceptable. Wouldn't Stormterror end up getting killed that way?
Gotelinde:
That foolish beast betrayed the winds. Not even the God of Anemo themselves would forgive it!
Venti:
Wow...
Venti:
Please, I beg of you!
Gotelinde:
I'm afraid not, little bard.
Gotelinde:
(Strange... Somehow I feel so bad rejecting this sweet child...)
Venti:
Then... I guess I'm left with no other choice.
Venti:
I cannot hide anymore!
Venti:
My disciples, rejoice! Behold, the God of Anemo, Barbatos has descended!
Venti:
Shocked, aren't you? Don't you just want to cry out and rejoice? How does it feel to finally meet the god you've been serving?
Gotelinde:
If there's nothing else, I'll be going back to handle the Cathedral's paperwork now.
Venti:
Wait—
Talk to Venti
Venti:
Eh? She didn't even bat an eyelid.
Venti:
But, I have at least learned what I wanted to know.
Venti:
She didn't deny that the Cathedral is enshrining the Holy Lyre.
Venti:
Now, Traveler, since you're the hotshot of the Knights of Favonius...
Venti:
Maybe you can give it a shot.
Talk to the sister
Gotelinde:
Barbatos bless you.
Gotelinde:
Ah, it's you! The newcomer of the Knights of Favonius, aren't you?
Gotelinde:
So what brings you here? Tasks from the Acting Grand Master?
Traveler:
Yes, actually. The Knights of Favonius would like to borrow the Holy Lyre...
Gotelinde:
Is that so?
Gotelinde:
Not that I don't trust you. It's just that a suspicious bard came looking to borrow the Holy Lyre as well.
Gotelinde:
He's full of nonsense and even called himself Barbatos. He must be up to something.
Gotelinde:
There are regulations in place for the use of the Holy Lyre. Currently, it's only used in Ludi Harpastum.
Gotelinde:
Signed documents from the Grand Master, Seneschal, and Community Representative are all required.
Gotelinde:
So, may I see the document from the Knights of Favonius?
Gotelinde:
A signed document is required. Without it, there's not much I can do.
Gotelinde:
Now, if you'll excuse me. I really am quite busy as of late.

Venti's New Plan
Venti's plan to sweet talk his way into getting the Holy Lyre back backfires. He's come up with a new plan, but seems he'll need your help for it to work.
Talk to Venti
Venti:
It didn't work... I knew it.
Paimon:
You "knew it"?
Venti:
I just wanted to know how influential Traveler — the hotshot of the Knights of the Favonius — is.
Venti:
You see, the best warrior should always be presented with the best sword, and yet here we are...
Venti:
Does the story not make for a fitting ballad?
Paimon:
So what are you trying to say? That we're not good enough?
Venti:
No, that's not it. More of a commentary regarding Mondstadt's inability to see the warrior standing right before its very eyes.
Venti:
Very well. Looks like borrowing it is not going to be possible. We're simply going to have to steal it.
Venti:
Today we stand for free will! Any suggestions on just how we steal it?
Traveler:
...
Venti:
Come now, speak up. That's what free will is for.
Traveler:
I don't want to steal anything!
Venti:
Hahaha, look at you. Sidetracked from the start.
Venti:
But seriously, you're more suitable for the job than I.
Venti:
Aside from singing, I don't really have any other talents.
Venti:
Besides, if I was caught, I'd have no one to right the grave injustice of my arrest.
Paimon:
How can it be a "grave injustice" if you got caught stealing red-handed?
Venti:
But things are different for Traveler. You are the superstar of the Knights of Favonius. You have made contributions to Mondstadt.
Venti:
Should you get caught, you would easily be able to talk your way out of it.
Venti:
The guards here, it seems they're off duty throughout the night.
Venti:
If we manage to seize this opportunity, it should be smooth sailing from here.
Paimon:
Stop mentioning us getting caught!
Venti:
Traveler... What do you say?
Traveler:
I'm sorry— Wait... Did you just say... you're Barbatos?
Venti:
Ah, yes. Seems I did mention that...
Venti:
Your point being?
Traveler:
If you really are a god, then we can't simply abandon you.
Venti:
Why does your decision hinge upon whether or not I am a god?
Paimon:
Paimon'll fill you in on Traveler's background story when we get the time...
Traveler:
And if you're not a god, then I'll help Dvalin anyway.
Venti:
Huh?

Wild Escape
Venti's plan to steal the Holy Lyre went off without a hitch. Well, almost — when the Lyre was almost in your hands, a stranger stole it from under your noses. Your movements alerted the guards, forcing you to flee the Cathedral.
Talk to Diluc
Charles:
Master Diluc, this is this week's accounts.
Diluc:
Hmm... The disaster has greatly affected business.
Charles:
Well, let's hope it all ends soon.
Venti:
Hi, we'd like a seat at your, uhh... least conspicuous table.
Diluc:
Umm... The second floor has fewer customers. You'd be less conspicuous up there...
Diluc:
But aren't you a bard? Why not sit front and center?
Venti:
Hahaha, let's save the paid performance for next time. We'll be heading up now, see you in a bit!
Diluc:
Hey, keep an eye on them. There's something strange about that bard. I'll go ask around.
Charles:
Ask who exactly?
Diluc:
The "protectors" of Mondstadt...
Hide on the second floor of the tavern
Otto:
Ah, Master Diluc. Have you seen two thieves around?
Diluc:
What happened? Why have you mobilized so many guards?
Miles:
Haven't you heard, Master Diluc? Two thieves were trying to steal the Holy Lyre!
Diluc:
Oh? How odd.
Miles:
Isn't it? The Holy Lyre is a treasure that was played by the God of Anemo themselves. Such a precious piece of cultural heritage—
Diluc:
Why would one want to steal something they can't sell off? Would pay better to steal from my cellars...
Otto:
Huh?
Diluc:
Sorry, off topic. Believe they headed that way.
Miles:
Understood. Thank you, Master Diluc!
Answer Diluc's questions
Venti:
Today I think I'll have a glass of...
Diluc:
You can put down that bottle you stole from behind the counter.
Venti:
...something cold.
Diluc:
Right. I want answers.
Venti:
Lemme finish my drink first? I'll pay you — well, with a performance.
Diluc:
It's not about money. You seem too young to be drinking.
Venti:
No need to worry. When I started drinking, you were still—
Venti:
Oh, you wanna ask "Who's this?" Am I right?
Venti:
He is Master Diluc, the boss of... ah, the owner of this tavern.
Venti:
He's very famous. By the way, his dandelion wine is one of my favorites.
Venti:
Though most of the time I can only afford a bottle or two...
Diluc:
I just heard about some thieves from the guards.
Diluc:
For the record, I like your guts for trying to steal the Holy Lyre der Himmel.
Diluc:
Even if you are fools... but we don't often get to see people like you.
Paimon:
It wasn't us that stole it! The real thief is still out there!
Venti:
This is the hotshot of the Knights of Favonius. Why would someone so aspiring steal Mondstadt's sacred treasure?
Diluc:
Hotshot...? Oh, so it's you.
Diluc:
So, you and the bard are close friends?
Diluc:
Well... Despite only being a passing traveler, you still offered your help to Mondstadt in its time of need.
Diluc:
A shame you joined the Knights.
Diluc:
The Knights of Favonius... Inefficient right from beginning to end.
Diluc:
And towards the Fatui? Weak and conservative.
Diluc:
Forget it. I don't feel like talking about it.
Venti:
Seems you don't really like the Knights of Favonius.
Diluc:
Just differences in approach is all.
Diluc:
I have my own hopes for this city.
Diluc:
Now, answers. Why did you steal the Holy Lyre?
Venti:
You sure you want to know? It could implicate you in the affairs of the Knights of Favonius.
Diluc:
That's fine. I somehow always end up implicated in their affairs.
Venti:
If I tell you the story with a performance, will you believe me?
Diluc:
It depends. I'll make my own judgment.
Venti:
Then will I get paid?
Diluc:
Your reward will range from anywhere between five Mora and the Holy Lyre. It all depends on your story.
Venti:
Very well. Let me put on a show...
You listen to Venti sing the song about the dragon once more...
Diluc:
What did I just witness...
Diluc:
This is confidential information. Why did you let me know?
Venti:
Why? Hmm... Perhaps the winds are changing.
Venti:
What say you, Master Diluc?
Diluc:
Interesting.
Diluc:
Give me some time. I'll organize some contacts.
Diluc:
Outlander, as one of the Knights, it seems you're not a suspect.
Diluc:
Blonde is the only description on the wanted poster. You should be safe.
Diluc:
As for the bard however, it'd be better if you stayed in the tavern.
Venti:
Haha. No problem! I like taverns.
Diluc:
...
Diluc:
Okay. Let's meet here tonight after the tavern closes.

Behind the Scenes
In your haste fleeing from the confusion, you found yourself in Diluc's tavern, where — to your surprise — he decided to help hide you. Diluc agrees to meet back at the tavern after nightfall with his "contacts" — who could they be?
Talk to Diluc
Venti:
You're here.
Jean:
Wait, you're... Traveler?
Diluc:
Well, first of all, I contacted more than one person.
Diluc:
Secondly, she came here as "Jean" herself, not as the Acting Grand Master.
Diluc:
A Jean you would never see, even as an Honorary Knight.
Jean:
What a surprise.
Jean:
I heard about the Holy Lyre, but I never suspected it was you.
Jean:
So, the sound of the Holy Lyre can purify Stormterror and return it to normal... Is that true?
Venti:
That's right! Traveler is putting themselves on the front line to try and resolve this Stormterror issue.
Venti:
Now that's the hotshot of the Knights of Favonius I'm talking about.
Paimon:
Feels like we're breaking the law though...
Diluc:
I understand this kind of absurd explanation is hard to believe.
Diluc:
But, we can ask the bard to play the song again to try and persuade—
Jean:
I believe you.
Diluc:
To persuade our stubborn comman— Wait, what?
Jean:
I can't think of any reason for Dvalin's betrayal, given it was once one of The Four Winds.
Jean:
However, if it was poisoned in the battle over Mondstadt all those years ago...
Jean:
And then corrupted by the Abyss Mage after it woke up — we can't really blame it.
Jean:
But as Acting Grand Master I obviously cannot make such a statement publicly.
Jean:
Diplomatic pressure from the Fatui makes it hard for us to seek a peaceful resolution to the Stormterror issue.
Jean:
People would think I've lost grip on the gravity of the situation. That's why I can only do this in private.
Diluc:
Hmph.
Diluc:
That's one of the reasons I don't like the Knights of Favonius.
Diluc:
What surprises me is that you would believe an outlander so easily...
Jean:
My cautious and meticulous superior, even you trust him. Don't you, sir?
Diluc:
I already told you not to call me sir... Never mind. We don't often get to work together after all.
Jean:
...
Diluc:
...
Paimon:
Wow! Um... This is really awkward...
Jean:
I have a rough idea of where the Holy Lyre der Himmel is.
Venti:
(Nice recovery! She's really talented at changing the subject...)
Jean:
The conflict between Mondstadt and Snezhnaya stems from the conflict between the seven nations and their respective gods.
Jean:
The Cryo God's Fatui seem to be after the Anemo God's power.
Venti:
...
Jean:
Right.
Jean:
If the Knights of Favonius publicly prevented an attempt on Dvalin's head, then...
Jean:
The only other way to affect the Anemo God's power is to take the Holy Lyre.
Diluc:
The number of Fatui that have come to Mondstadt is far from limited.
Diluc:
I've already managed to... coerce a few reports out of them.
Jean:
Diluc has determined that the Holy Lyre is not being held in the Goth Grand Hotel.
Jean:
I imagine they don't want to leave something stolen in a place where it could be so easily found.
Paimon:
Paimon gets it. If too much of a scene gets made then it becomes a big diplomatic issue.
Diluc:
Hmph, such is the diplomacy between the seven nations.
Talk to Diluc
Diluc:
Outlander, ready to go?

State of the Holy Lyre der Himmel
After a fierce battle, you managed to seize the Holy Lyre der Himmel back from the hands of the Fatui. For some reason, Venti seems to express a great nostalgia for the Lyre...
Talk to Venti
Venti:
Welcome back!
Venti:
Ah, this is the Holy Lyre! You managed to retrieve it!
Venti:
The pattern of flowing wind carved on the rosewood... and the strings still feel cool to the touch too. Oh, the memories...
Jean:
What do you think, Venti? Can you summon Dvalin?
Venti:
Although this lyre is the real thing, I doubt that it's going to work.
Venti:
As you can see, the lyre has been through a thousand years of history. Its Anemo power has run dry.
Venti:
In this condition, you couldn't play music fit for even Diluc's tavern with it...
Diluc:
Bards fight to get on the stage of my tavern. Don't make assumptions!
Paimon:
Is that really important right now, Master Diluc!?
Paimon:
And you — did you just borrow the Holy Lyre to play music for drunkards to hear?
Venti:
Hehe.
Paimon:
What do you mean "hehe"!?
Venti:
Anyway, we won't be able to call Dvalin with it.
Venti:
The lyre itself is fine, but the strings...
Venti:
You're up, outlander!
Venti:
Relax! It's not broken.
Venti:
It's just that the intensity of its Anemo power has greatly diminished.
Venti:
Traveler, do you still have Dvalin's Teardrop Crystal with you?
Talk to Jean
Venti:
It worked, as expected.
Jean:
This youthful glow...
Paimon:
Praising yourself? Really?
Jean:
...I was talking about the Holy Lyre.
Venti:
Thanks to Traveler having purified the crystal, the Holy Lyre won't continue to lose power.
Venti:
That said, its power is far from replenished. It'd be great if we could get more tears.
Paimon:
How can we gather more?
Venti:
I can surmise that Dvalin will already be crying...
Venti:
Suffering alone in some deserted place...
Jean:
Dvalin...
Paimon:
Poor baby...
Jean:
This is not something that an Honorary Knight can accomplish alone. I will mobilize the rest of the knights to assist.
Jean:
When you get the Teardrop Crystal, please let Traveler perform the purification process.
Traveler:
Leave it to me.
Venti:
Heroes supporting each other and setting out on a journey together... How exciting!
Venti:
Lemme come up with a song for you...
Paimon:
Is that all you're going to do? Just sing?
Venti:
Wouldn't be much of a bard if I didn't now, would I?
Paimon:
Hmph. You're so cheeky... You deserve an ugly nickname.
Paimon:
Oh, Paimon knows! From now on, you'll be known as "Tone-Deaf Bard"!

Fallen Tears
The Holy Lyre is in poor condition, but you manage to restore some of its Anemo power by using Dvalin's tears. To restore its full power, you will need to look for more tears.
Go to the Thousand Winds Temple
Diluc:
This search reminds me of a feud I once had with the Fatui.
Diluc:
Six months ago, a thief stole treasure from the East Temple of the Four Winds.
Paimon:
Whoa. What was it? A cup used by Barbatos?
Diluc:
No. Although if such a thing existed, it would be very valuable.
Diluc:
Among all the relics they managed to dig up, one particular object was very rare...
Diluc:
It was a vial which contained the Anemo God's breath.
Paimon:
Relics come in every shape and form huh...
Diluc:
Anyone with an eye for fine art would like to add this relic to their collection.
Diluc:
Once word got out, the Fatui started trying to seek it out as well.
Diluc:
They've made tons of counterfeits that can be found everywhere.
Diluc:
In response, I just bought every one I could find, irrespective of its authenticity. We're still at it now.
Diluc:
I've bought more than two thousand fakes to date, and the Fatui are yet to find the real one.
Paimon:
Whoa. You guys are insane...
Paimon:
So, it means that the real one must be out there somewhere on the black market, right?
Paimon:
Hmmm... Paimon'll give you a discount on them if she finds any — cause Paimon's just great like that!
Diluc:
Sure, you can try to find the real one. I'll take what you find, even if they're fake.
Diluc:
Once you're done, find me at the winery. I'll trade you a beer for every 20 you find.
Obtain Dvalin's Tear
Paimon:
Paimon didn't think we'd find Dvalin's tears in a place like this.
Jean:
As knights, we are taught to hone our investigative skills.
Paimon:
Wow! Very impressive!
Jean:
In my experience, the secret to finding what you are looking for is to never look for it in the first place.
Jean:
Don't think too much about it and don't search too hard... and before you know it, what you are looking for will appear right before your very eyes.
Paimon:
What?
Jean:
Don't worry about it too much. The more flustered you become, the less likely you are to find it.
Jean:
Pay attention to what you see in your peripheral vision, and you might just stumble upon what you're looking for.
Paimon:
I don't know... It doesn't sound like that would work...
Jean:
No, seriously, it does though. In fact, it's how I used to find my tortoise whenever he went missing.
Paimon:
...Wait — you had a pet tortoise!?
Jean:
Yes, why? Something wrong, Paimon?
Paimon:
No, it's... uh, well, just surprising is all.
Jean:
Why?
Paimon:
Paimon can't imagine Jean having a pet tortoise. Surely you find it hard to imagine too, Master Diluc?
Diluc:
No, I don't.
Diluc:
I had one too when I was a kid. What's so strange about it?
Paimon:
What? You too!?

Hidden Tears
Dvalin's footprints are all over Mondstadt, and one of his tears fell upon a ruin deep within the forest.
Obtain Dvalin's Tear
Paimon:
*sigh* We're done gathering! That was hard...
Diluc:
It's too early to relax. We're still not done with Stormterror.
Diluc:
Besides, the Fatui could also be planning something...
Jean:
Hey Diluc, I heard that the Fatui have recently proclaimed you "persona non grata."
Diluc:
Hmph, what an honor.
Diluc:
Nobody was ever proclaimed "persona grata" by the Fatui anyway.
Paimon:
The Fatui? The diplomatic delegation from Snezhnaya? What have they got against Master Diluc?
Jean:
The Fatui are a problem not only for the Knights — they also present a real threat to the whole of Mondstadt.
Jean:
And when it comes to threats against Mondstadt, Diluc is—
Diluc:
That's enough, Jean.
Diluc:
You knights are subject to too many restrictions. You can't directly confront this so-called "diplomatic" scum.
Diluc:
Personally... I despise them.
Diluc:
If I were to choose between "eating a Cryo Slime alive" or "joining the Fatui..."
Diluc:
...I'd prefer to be crushed to death by a meteorite.
Paimon:
Geez, your wording is so very dramatic...

Stolen Tears
The corrupted dragon tear has even attracted hilichurls. You must get it back from them.

Crystal Tears
After completing the retrieval of the tears, you meet up with the rest of the group.
Talk to Jean
Paimon:
Woohoo!
Paimon:
Dvalin Protection Squad! Assemble!
Venti:
Let's put our crystals together.
Venti:
Oh...
Venti:
The color of these crystals looks... muddy.
Venti:
Dvalin... You're going through so much pain...
Venti:
...Let's start purifying these crystals first. Please, Traveler.
Jean:
It is hard to believe such a thing is possible, until you've seen it with your own eyes.
Diluc:
Interesting. It's like filtering wine. The process is... refreshing.
Venti:
I think we should have enough tears now. So next we...
Use Dvalin's Tear on the Holy Lyre
Paimon:
It worked!
Jean:
It seems completely different from before.
Venti:
The lyre's Anemo power seems fully restored. We should be able to use it now.
Venti:
It's all thanks to you, Traveler.
Jean:
Now, where should we summon Stormterror?
Jean:
It must be away from the city, else there will be casualties should we fail.
Jean:
Perhaps here at the winery...
Diluc:
If the winery was destroyed, it's not something I couldn't eventually fix, but... I'd still rather not go through the hassle.
Jean:
...
Venti:
The wind that blows at sea or in high places should be able to carry a bard's words far away.
Venti:
It's never going to work if the air is too dry or suffocating.
Paimon:
Paimon understands. Sea or high places, right?
Paimon:
Then the best location to play the lyre would be...
Diluc:
If you go east from Starfell Lake, there are mountains south of the beach.
Paimon:
..Oh! You mean that beach you were snoring away on and Paimon had to wake you?
Diluc:
If you head to where the cliff juts out — that place is known as Starsnatch Cliff.
Diluc:
What do you think, bard? Meets the requirements, no?
Venti:
Lemme think... Starsnatch Cliff...
Venti:
...Alright, let's do it there.
Jean:
Very well. Then let's meet at Starsnatch Cliff when we are ready.
Jean:
Please don't be late.
Paimon:
Hee-hee! Yes, Ma'am!
Jean:
Ah, sorry. I didn't mean to...

Reunion With the Dragon
Dvalin's tears restored the Holy Lyre back to its full power. Now, you are finally ready to purify Stormterror.
Talk to Venti
Diluc:
Everyone is finally here.
Paimon:
What a view...
Venti:
Lovely for a fated reunion, isn't it?
Venti:
Well, we must be prepared for a fight.
Jean:
Regardless of the outcome, things finally seem to be taking a turn for the better.
Jean:
Mondstadt has really been going through so much recently...
Diluc:
Huh! In the end, the solution to our problem was as simple as a traveler and a song.
Diluc:
I suppose the Knights of Favonius may have played a part in it too...
Venti:
Oh, we get it, Master Diluc... Everyone, please step aside!
Venti:
I, the best wandering bard of the mortal world, shall begin my performance with the Holy Lyre.
As your conversation with Dvalin reaches a critical moment, an Abyss Mage suddenly appears and bewitches the dragon. Blinded by his hatred for Mondstadt, Dvalin takes flight and departs in a rage.
Jean:
Barbat— Venti, please, be careful...
Venti:
Hehe... You've known my true identity for some time now, haven't you Jean?
Venti:
Though, I thank you for continuing to use the name Venti.
Diluc:
How's the Holy Lyre?
Diluc:
Can it still be played? Or does it need to be repaired?
Venti:
Wow...
Venti:
Unfortunately, I think it's beyond repair...
Diluc:
You're right. If we don't fight the evil at its source, then we can't save Dvalin at all.
Jean:
In which case I shall call upon Outrider Amber to track it down...
Diluc:
No need.
Jean:
Why is that?
Diluc:
I eradicated one not long ago, in one of the Four Winds' temples.
Paimon:
What!? When...?
Diluc:
If you want to track those monsters down, then I'll seek answers from my contacts. I've got other means for getting the job done.
Paimon:
Diluc...
Paimon:
Though he dislikes the Knights of Favonius, he protects Mondstadt in his own way.
Venti:
Ooh? Why does our little Paimon sound so doting all of a sudden?
Diluc:
Hmph.
Diluc:
Wait for my word.
Diluc:
I'll be sure to let the Abyss Order know that their blatant disregard for Mondstadt...
Diluc:
...will not go unpunished.
movie
Everyone returns to Mondstadt to plan their next move. But at the same time, a figure appears near Stormterror's Lair, and the Abyss Mages bow down to this figure in submission...

Chasing Shadows
The person Diluc called in turned out to be Jean from the Knights of Favonius. After some discussions, it is discovered that it was the Fatui who stole the Holy Lyre der Himmel. You must retrieve it to rescue Dvalin.
Enter the Fatui hideout
Venti:
Jean just said the Fatui are trying to take Dvalin's power for the Cryo God...
Venti:
I fear this might fall short of their true intentions.
Venti:
I think they intend to use Barbatos' connection to the wind to draw him out.
Venti:
Just like Lisa traced the source of the storm to the temples.
Diluc:
The God of Anemo? ...Hasn't been seen for more than a thousand years. What makes you think that's their intention?
Venti:
Oh... ah...
Diluc:
...
Diluc:
Forget it. I don't like having to pry. Traveler, here. Take this.
Paimon:
What is it?
Diluc:
A disguise, to protect your identity. Put it on before you run into the Fatui.
Diluc:
Unfortunately, they are still one of Mondstadt's allies. At least that's the facade we're maintaining...
Diluc:
Our actions are going to get them stirred up. Better to not implicate yourself on a personal level.
Interrogate the guard
Fatui Guard:
No, NO! Don't eat me! Ah? You're... You're human?
Fatui Guard:
The entire floor's defenses... have been broken. I thought it was the Abyss Order attacking...
Fatui Guard:
H—How did you guys know the lyre's here?
Fatui Guard:
The place it's being kept is locked up tight. If you're after the key, keep going further into the ruins, but d—don't come after me!
Fatui Guard:
I don't know which one of the guards has it, but I'm sure you can find the guards and find out for yourselves.
Paimon:
This guy looks like he's about to wet himself...
Fatui Guard:
Y—You just worry about yourselves!
Fatui Guard:
One of the Harbingers is already in Mondstadt.
Fatui Guard:
Signora. When she gets her hands on you she's going to string you up and torture you. When that time comes, don't you dare say a word about me.
Scour the Fatui hideout to find the key
Paimon:
Did he say Signora? What a strange name...
Diluc:
No. 8 of The Eleven Harbingers. Goes by the name Signora.
Diluc:
The fact the Fatui can run amok across the seven nations like they do is entirely because of The Eleven Harbingers.
Diluc:
We need to act quickly before she gets wind of what's going on.
Talk to Paimon
Paimon:
Finally, the lyre is back in safe hands!
Paimon:
Where did that guy go, though? He was here a second ago...
Agent:
Signora is going to end you. The songs bards sing of your demise will be so terrifying — the people of Mondstadt will never sleep again for the nightmares they give them.
Paimon:
Big talk for a guy who still ran off in the end... Chicken.
